Course in Danish Family Law for Religious Workers

Religious workers who wish to have their residence permits extended must take a course in Danish family law. The Appeals Board offers the course four times a year, and the course is also open to all other preachers who are interested in participating.

If a religious worker, whose first residence permit was granted after 1 October 2013, needs to extend his/her residence permit, he/she must attend a course in Danish family law. However, this only applies to religious workers who are authorised to perform marriages.

Danish family law is about:

  • Marriage
  • The legal effects of marriage
  • Legal separation and divorce
  • Custody
  • Equality between the sexes
  • Approval of religious communities

The Appeals Board organises the courses.
